BIO - what?

What is Biotin, Anyway? Everyone is talking about it...and what is it even?

Biotin, also known as vitamin B7, is a water-soluble vitamin that plays a vital role in maintaining the health of our hair, skin, and nails. It is part of the B complex group of vitamins and is involved in various metabolic processes in our bodies.

So why is it all the hair rage?

Biotin supports the production of keratin, a protein that makes up the structure of our hair. By promoting the production of keratin, biotin helps strengthen hair strands, reducing breakage and brittleness.

While biotin alone won't miraculously make your hair grow from a bob to Rapunzel's length overnight, it does play a role in supporting healthy hair growth. Biotin aids in the production of amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins. These proteins are essential for hair growth, so ensuring an adequate supply of biotin can contribute to promoting hair growth.

So where do you get your biotin?

Welllllllllll..........eggs, nuts (especially almonds and walnuts), whole grains, avocados, salmon, and sweet potatoes are some natural and accessible sources of biotin. And many people choose to take a supplement.

If you're not getting enough biotin from your diet alone, you may consider taking biotin supplements. Many physicians encourage them, and you'll want to talk to your heathcare provider.  Here is my fave -- a keto friendly, vegan collagen supplement that has biotin in it.  Tastes like a berry refresher from Starbucks.

The Bottom Line: Biotin is undoubtedly a key player in the quest for fabulous hair. By incorporating biotin-rich foods into your diet or considering supplements under professional guidance, you can support your hair's health, strength, and growth.

Remember, while biotin is fantastic, it's just one piece of the puzzle. A holistic approach to hair care, including a balanced diet, proper hair care routine, and a healthy lifestyle, is essential for achieving and maintaining those gorgeous locks.

In a world where everyone wants a magic pill...I would encourage you to remember that there are some simple healthy hair habits you can adopt to reduce breakage and hack hair growth, to.
